Philosophy is the "study of the ultimate reality, causes, and principles underlying being and thinking"

The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition. Copyright © 2001

The Main Branches of Philosophy are:

(Linked to Columbia Encyclopedia)

Metaphysics -  Inquires into the nature and ultimate significance of the universe.

Logic -  Concerned with the laws of valid reasoning.

Epistemology Investigates the nature of knowledge and the process of knowing.

Ethics -   Deals with problems of right conduct.

Aesthetics Attempts to determine the nature of beauty and the criteria of artistic judgment.

There are sound arguments for the reality of the God  of the bible and can be seen in this manner :

Transcendental - Our very ability to think and be able to reason requires the existence of God.

Ontological - The concept of God requires that there is an actual existent God.

Presupposition - Shows that the basic beliefs of theists and non-theists require God as a necessary source.

Cosmological - The existence of the universe reveals that God exists.

Teleological - There is a intricate design in the world around us, and a design demands a designer.

Moralality - If there are any real morals, then there must be an  absolute that they are derived from.
